gulp…I think I may have House-itis

I have a new television series to add to my ever growing list of must watch. “House” is one of my favorite shows on television right now. I have only recently become a fan and have recorded a metric ass-load of episodes on DVR. (how did we make it all this time without DVR’s?) so I’m still kind of new to the show. The past couple of days Fx has been having a House, NCIS marathon, and buddy I was right there with them. I was up until two-thirty this morning watching some of the episodes I recorded. Needless to say I’m dragging a medium sized ass today.

I have a few things that boggle this tiny brain of mine though. House is always right. Right? It may take awhile for him to get the correct diagnosis, but he usually gets it in the end. Why do Cuddy, Foreman, Chase and Cameron always argue with him? He’s a world class infectious disease specialist for pete’s sake. Doesn’t that carry any clout? Not only that, he walks with a really cool cane. I think the man knows what he’s talking about they wouldn’t give just anyone a cane. Would they? Come to think of it he usually does have two things that he thinks the problem is and he turns out to be wrong, but, he always nails it in the end good or bad.

I love the one-liners, and his sarcasm would make Don Rickles proud. I could only hope to be that skilled in the ancient art of smartassness. I don’t remember the episode but one my favorites is when he goes to Wilson’s office for what I’m sure was some life saving consultation (my sarcasm) and knocks finding the door locked. The dialogue went something like this:

House: (Knocks on door) Knock, Knock

Wilson: No answer

House: I know your in there…I can hear you caring.

That! my friend, is classic.

I still have quite a few recorded episodes and plan on watching more tonight, that way I can free up some space on the DVR before it comes down with a scorching case of House-itis. For all you non-medical people out there that would be inflammation of the House. I’m not sure but I don’t think it’s treatable.

So, tonight, I’ll grab an extra large glass of tea and maybe a snack, haven’t decided on that one yet, and pour myself into the right side of the couch and “get my House on” again.

If you’re not a House fan I suggest you check it out.

See ya next time.

yippie…?

I had a friend the other day use the word “yippie” in a conversation. Do we use that word anymore? Is it acceptable in this day and age? Somebody please let me know.

I thought about bringing it back into my everyday vocabulary, you know, to try to bring back some youth in my life. I really can’t remember ever using it though, and if I did, I’m sure that was the cause of one of the many beat downs I received from the “big kids”. So… maybe its not for me. Anyway, it was funny when she said it.
